With a handful of successful Freeview boxes under its belt, Digifusion has now released a twin-tuner PVR receiver.. It’s extraordinarily thin and sleek (the power supply is in the mains plug) it’s hard to believe there are two tuners and a hard-drive in there!
On the back panel there are two Scart sockets for TV and VCR (both with S-Video and the TV Scart also offering RGB), the usual UHF loopthrough connectors and stereo analogue audio outputs.

Fantastic
This is a great piece of kit, especially at this price. Mine came with a better PSU than when first launched so hopefully none of the problems that used to plague this model. Also, firmware can be tweaked using a PC with serial cable. Plenty of details on the Internet.
Cheap as chips?
The best bang for the buck. TWIN TUNERS that will RECORD two different channels - not all twin tuner PVRs do. I have one, just bought another. Dodgy PSUs on some units (not powerful enough). I have seen FVRT100 flashed to FVRT200 firmware and with upgraded Hard Drives and USB port mods - good kit. Like a mini Sky+ for freeview!!!!
Pretty good
Not bad at all, does the job and is pretty quiet. Comes with the "power brick" style adapter so does not have any of the power-related problems that previous revisions of this product had. The on-screen theme is pretty awful and makes it hard to read the text - but you can upgrade to unofficial firmware to change the theme, and give extra features (e.g. repeat recordings) which make it like the FVRT200 in terms of functionality. This will void your warranty though, so do so at your own risk. Highly recommended at this price.
Six stars for this
Absolutely brilliant, throw your video away and buy one for every room, these are simply superb. And Micro Direct include the new 5Amp power pack. Also Micro Direct service is top notch couldn't be better.
Can't complain for the money
I picked one of these units up from the warehouse. It didn't come with a scart lead, aerial lead or batteries for the remote. Initially it wouldn't receive ITV / Ch 4 acceptably, however wiring the aerial connection through an amp (in my case the old VCR) everything sprung into life, so you may need to budget for an aerial amplifier as well. Since then it's been fine. 40Gb is perhaps a little small and I can imagine upgrading the drive in the not too distant future. It also gets pretty warm. It comes with a 5A power supply, I gather the older 2A ones were the source of alot of the problems. As I said in the title you really can't complain for the money.
Better than a supermarket special
Great value for a PVR, only a tenner or so more than a standard freeview box from the supermarket. Good sound, picture and record quality. User interface though garish is easy to use. Fan runs all the time and may disturb in a quiet room. Initial 'Welcome' screen didn't appear, just a cryptic aerial graphic - needed to do Menu-Setup-Aerial Alignment and scan both tuners to see the correct TV transmitter.
Great Little Machine
Just bought 5 off these. Bought one originally to replace my aging pace set-top box. Showed the family and now just bought another 4. All off them came with a 3amp power supply not 5amp as previously stated in other reviews. Hopefully ok. 2 Boxes where scuffed and slightly dinted on the top. But for the price i aint complaining. Now looks like i may have to buy some more aswell. Bargain
Cracking bit of kit
I ordered mine late last week, it came on Monday. Re-furbished? Looks new to me. I couldn't get the EPG to update, tip, make sure your box is picking up channel 300, it updates from there at 3am. Mine is an absolute dream, what a product, what a price.
Excellent
I have to say I was a little sceptical when I initially ordered one of these, as at the price it seemed too good to be true, especially as other freeview boxes/DVRs with similar features are much more expensive. But so far it's worked like a dream and I would highly recommend it. It does everything you can do with a Sky+ box at a fraction of the price. Recording programs is amazingly easy and I'm loving being able to pause and rewind live TV! The only slight problem is it's a little noisy, which seems to be a common problem with set top boxes. It's fine when watching TV, as it's not that loud, but as I have it in my bedroom it's a bit too noisy to keep on at night, which means I can't update the EPG every night. But as the EPG holds a good couple of weeks worth of programming at a time, this isn't really a problem as you only need to keep the set top box on overnight once every couple of weeks or so to have an up to date programme guide.
Superb Value
I decided to take the plunge and order one of these last week. After reading up on the problems that original purchasers had with the power packs and early software I was aware of these issues but decided that at this price it was well worth taking a "punt" that the problems had been sorted. The unit arrived one working day after I ordered it (great service MicroDirect!) and was in good "used" condition with only a few minor scuffs on the front panel which aren't visible at TV-watching distance. The first thing I check out was the power unit - mine was supplied with a 5A "brick" which should solve the reliability issues people had with the old 2A adapters. Once up and running I could also confirm that the software was the latest available version and the unit has been working a dream ever since. It found all the channels very quickly and reception is rock-solid. Interactive "red button" services load quite quickly.
Good for money
Excellent Value for the money. Has good functionality. HDD can be upgraded as well as a better version of firmware. You can see program days in advance. Downsides. 1.Not as good picture quality as the freeview built into my TV. 2.The remote control is fiddley to use as buttons are in odd places. All in all though you cant go wrong for £40.
Makes Watching TV easier
1st box provided had error, contacted Micro-direct unit replaced promptly no questions asked. Great being able to plan TV around your evening, instead of Visa-Versa. Put dinner on, start watching program…pause…eat come back and carry on where you left off. Blinking Marvellous. Best buy of the year by far !!!
Great piece of kit!
We ordered this on Tuesday at it arrived Thursday - £50 odd quid for a unit that would have cost four times that a few months ago - outstanding value. As for the unit, ours came with a 5A PSU which should avoid all the issues these originally had. Picture and sound are both excellent and they are flashed with the latest 1.7.8 software - but of course the joy of these is you can update this yourself if you wish. Hat's off to Micro Direct - Thank you.
DigiFusion FVRT100 Billiant machine
DigiFusion FVRT100 order place at weekend arrived wed morning. 3Amp power supply pluged in setup and WoW what a better picture than freeviewbox 90% SIGNAL strength put in standby and thursday all firmware and EPG updated OK. record quality even in LP mode is better than videotape just hope there will be one left when my brother-in-law wants one.
Not Bad for the money
First thing, for themoney, this is a brilliant buy. My only main gripe is that the fan is nosiy and runs ALL the time (even in standby). The EPG is OK, a bit fiddly - But overall a great buy for the money.
For the money a steal
Love this PVR. Okay it's slightly noisy, channels not that quick to change but overall for the money there is no complaints. I will be buying another one of these for another room.
The buy of the year
I got me one of these, and it is fantastic! Twin tuners for this price is a steal. Picture quality is superb . It came with the 5Amp power supply and I can't hear the Fan, it's much quieter than my VCR. The response time of the remote is bit slow, but you get used to it. As a result it is easy to delete recordings when trying to edit timings. Otherwise you cannot go wrong. If you are brave enough to flash the box you can turn it into its bigger brother with even more functions!! MicroDirect Number ONE for service.
Very happy customer
Can not fault this for value. It arrived quickly after ordering, and has worked perfectly ever since. There is some hard disc noise, but it is only noticeable up close. Fantastic value for money, may buy another one soon to give to my parents.
GREAT VALUE
just recieved mine. Very easy to set up. The guide is a bit hard to read, & it is a bit nisy. But overall it`s fantastic. I`d reccomend it anyone. Considering buying another one.
Freeview fvrt 100
Came as always quick! plugged in straight away after configuration and a few mins of downloading i was up and running. NO problems at all works just as it says (if not better) still keep on buying these models they are spot on. cheers lads keep on sending me them.
six star piece of gear
I bought my FVTR100 and found it to be a fantastic piece of equipment. I then made the mistake of telling other people. It`s week two since acquired my FVTR100 but I`ve been back four times to get more.
Fantastic piece of kit
I bought this box for a fantastic price and not regreted it from day 1. The box had to be returned in the first week due to issues but it was swapped out minimal fuss and very quickly...I was recording once again less then 1 week of reporting issue to microdirect. My wife and mother who are techno fobics found it easy to pick up. Reason for this review is I am now back to buy a further 2 for family members as christmas presents. the nightly updates to the software at 3am are automatic and require no help from me...genius.
